Aegis Mini 120 GIG Ultra Portable from Apricorn A little drive with a big heart.
The Aegis Mini 120 GB (A18-USB-XX) is available in 30GB, 60GB, 80, 100 & 120GB USB or Firewire versions. This Aegis Mini is a sturdy 120 Gig external USB drive that has taken much abuse during my travels and at home. The drive measures 0.7” high by 3.4” deep by 2.7” wide and is very lightweight. It fits in a shirt or pants pocket. This version holds a 1.8 inch Samsung hs122JB drive that is very quiet. I have carried this drive to CES in Las Vegas loaded with my contact files and other stuff I needed for the trip, to South Carolina for the birth of a new grandson, and several trips since to visit him to take more photos and video. It also has been helpful at home when moving files from one computer to another or just quickly save a second copy of something I don’t want to lose.
During that time it never failed. Not even a hiccup. The short USB connecting cable is permanently attached to the drive and curls around the outside of the case so the end that plugs into a computer USB port tucks snugly into a slot perfectly made for it. It is bus powered so there is no need for any external power supply. There is a blue light on the top of the case that is solid when the drive is a rest and blinks (more like flutters) when something is being written too it.
When I used the Safely Remove Hardware Icon at the bottom of my screen it gave me a “The device cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later” message. I clicked on the drive in “My Computer” and found it was set for Optimal Performance. This allows you to remove the drive without using the Safe Removal tool. Since that had worked on many flash and other external drives I had done just that. A bad move! This caused my Dell to have a fit when restarted. It tried to find a drive “5” that was missing. After reading the Aegis manual I have changed the policy to allow cashing and used the Safely Remove option. It works fine now.
This external drive is extremely shock resistant. It can be used with a PC or Mac so software for both is included on the CD. There are user manuals for all of the software and the drive itself on the CD.

I highly recommend the Aegis Mini for all who want or need to carry large numbers of files with them. Also for those who need to copy files from computers once they arrive at their destination. 120 Gigs are more than adequate for most of us. FOR MORE ON THIS OR OTHER APRICORN PRODUCT CLICK HERE
