Dexim P-Flip Foldable Power Dock
The P-Flip Foldable Power Dock comes out of the box as a tiny rectangle that is flat enough to fit in your pocket. It looks like a little beach chair when opened. This is a sleek looking iPhone/iPod touch charger that works with most previous iPhone versions as well as iPod Touch 1^st and 2^nd generation units. It performs quite well with my iPhone 4G.

The box I received contained only the Power Dock, a USB cable for syncing, and a second cradle for iPod Touch charging. This means you will have to use your Apple cable and connector to charge when using an AC outlet. There are a number of variations that add AC outlet adaptor/s, specialized cables, and other items that expand the capabilities. I found it online as low as $29.99.

During charging there are 3 blue LED lights that indicate charge level. 1 light means low, 2 lights medium, and all three lit means fully charged.

The specs state that the charger “Extends up to 8 hours Talk time, 15 hours Video/Gaming, or 60 hours music.” I have not tested the 60 hour music spec but the rest are correct.

My first thoughts were ‘Why do I need this Product?” If you are like me and charge your iPhone/iPod on the road or in the evening after a day of use, this may not be for you. If, on the other hand, you use you iphone/ipod in a more or less permanent location, like on your desk, the ability to extend usage time is much more valuable.

Syncing your iPhone to iTunes and other files while it is charging/docked to the charger is another plus.

I did find it a pain to remove my iPhone protective case when using the P-Flip Dock as it will not connect if any case is between it and the phone. Some cases are a real pain to remove and reinstall.

The Dexim P-Flip Foldable Power Dock is small and easy to pack when traveling. It does the job well without the need for technical knowledge. I recommend it if you work at your desk more than when traveling. Note: The P-Flip can also be used as a backup battery for video gaming. I did not test that feature. There is a download for an Alarm clock app that is available. I also did not include that in my tests as I feel it is stretching things to keep adding functions like that. Some may differ with my feelings on this.
