Kingston DataTraveler Mini Slim Big Storage In a Thin Package
A tiny thin Thumbdrive delivered in Black, Blue and Pink. Available storage is either 2 or 4 Gigabytes. The unit sent to me is the 4 Gigabyte one in Black. I plugged the DataTraveler Mini Slim into the Lenovo ThinkPad (XP Professional) and, after a computer restart, it was ready to use. It is formatted as Fat32. Kingston recommends always using standard fat with 2 gigabyte drives or less and Fat32 for drives 4 Gig and over.
Usable memory showed as 3.72 GB with 4.0 KB used with 3.72 GB available before adding files. It is possible to stick this product into the USB slot upside down as I did so be careful. When that happened it showed as a device instead of a drive. Of course it did not work until flipped and reconnected.
There are a number of How to Videos available on the Kingston website to help you begin to use this product. They suggest you right click on Start, click explore and then locate the files or drive you want to work with. This does give you a broad look at your entire file system. It is also very easy to click a folder or number of files and them drag and drop them. Using right click/copy/ and then right click/paste will also work for you.. You can decide.
This slim drive is very light and can be stored easily almost anywhere. There is a slot for placing it on a string or thin chain so you can wear it around your neck. It will fit in a pocket in your purse or wallet. It is also very easy to lose if you aren’t careful. Four gigabytes is a lot of room. The Mini Slim does not come with a cover for the connectors so be careful.
The Kingston DataTraveler Mini Slim is a nifty little addition to your storage solutions. At $11.00 for the 2 Gig version or $ 19.00 for the 4 Gig it is a bargain. Check it out.
