I carry the phone in a pants pocket that often has keys and change in with the phone. The Commuter case with three layers of protection is almost like adding an additional hard case to the already solid Eris phone case. The Commuter has silicon plugs to protect controls and still provides easy access to them. The Commuter would be my choice if I were keeping the Eris as my everyday phone. The OtterBox Impact Case is more elastic and less solid. It does provide protection but has open areas where the controls are accessed. I do like the textured feel of the exterior. The OtterBox Impact for Eris is best for those who want some protection but are not as hard on phones as I am. The protective film provided with both the Commuter and the Impact case is easy to apply or remove from the touch screen. It is something everyone with a touch screen should have.
