Samsung Sunburst (A697) AT&T
A surprise in a simple package The compact Sunburst by Samsung for AT&T is very unassuming out of the box. As a matter of fact I was not overwhelmed at first look. Once charged and running I found it a pretty good and dependable phone. The camera photos and video were not too bad either. To see more samples CLICK HERE.

Although the Sunburst will play music and do many other fun things you will need to purchase some accessories to accomplish most of them. On the other hand the Phone with a 2 year AT&T contract will only set you back $39.99 if you also include a 20.00 messaging and/or data service. Go to AT&T for more details. To use the full capability of the Sunburst you will need the added package anyway.
AT&T has a great support page with step by step assistance on setup operating the Sunburst LINK Phone camera specs are 2 MP with 3x Zoom. No flash. It also records video. Other great functions are: Bluetooth, GPS, and MicroSD up to 32 GB.

As usual, my big fingers did not like the vertical touch keyboard for texting. I also hate having to hit a button three or four times to access the third or fourth character on that button. For those reasons I really liked the horizontal keyboard on the Sunburst. It was easy for me to use for characters and numeric texting or when entering contacts, appointments, data and messages.
The Widget bar was always handy and most functions are valuable additions to the phone. I used the Events Widget all day to check for messages, calls and voice mails.
IDOL SCREEN PHOTO

The Sunburst from Samsung for AT&T is a big phone in a small package. The small touch screen can be difficult to read in bright sunlight as many screens are. I found it hard to find the touch screen UNLOCK button when in the sun. Also the end of my fingers seemed to work better than my thumb during unlocking.
I was unable to rate many of the optional functions as they were blocked from access. I looked longingly at the icons on the Touch screen and even drooled a little.
I can tell you I was very impressed with the Camera results. Here are a few. See more on my Flickr Site.
My overall results with the Sunburst were positive. Signal strength was always between 4 and 5 bars. Incoming voices were crisp and easy to hear. When asked, callers all seemed to be getting good results on the other end of the call. My wife, who always uses a land line for her work, was really impressed with the Voice sound on the Sunburst. Music was also well reproduced. Bluetooth was easy to connect and worked without issue. The Sunburst is an interesting and very functional lightweight phone.
