Victorinox SwissFlash Flight 8 GB USB A Swiss Army Knife Without a Blade
The Victorinox SwissFlash Flight is definitely a toy for those who have everything. The one I received has a bright see-through RED exterior. A key ring at one end and a flip out USB flash drive inside. As a matter of fact the USB drive can be completely removed. Pressing the well known Swiss Army knife logo with the Red Cross turns on a fairly powerful white LED flashlight. Push a sliding button and a small ballpoint pen appears for jotting notes while in the air or anywhere.
Want the flash drive and the knife options? You can buy the entire package with knife, light, pen and USB flash drive for $114.95. That is less than double the $67.95 retail for the non-knife equipped one. Looking at the Flight only version made me wonder how they fit it all in. Both the flight and the Flash are 2 1/4 inches long. Maybe the case is wider.
I tested the Victorinox SwissFlash Flight and found all parts worked as advertised. The white light LCD is bright enough for basic use. The tiny pen is good for short notes. I do not recommend it for writing a book or even a short letter. The USB flash drive is very good. Eight Gigabytes of storage can hold a bunch of photos and other files. Attaching the SwissFlash to your key chain is a must if you want to keep track of it.
The Victorinox SwissFlash Flight includes a write protect switch, is available in 1 GB/ 2GB/4GB/8GB/16GB capacities, and works with USB 1.1 and 2.0. Check out other specifications here.
The concept is great. Unfortunately I would always find myself needing the knife or scissors if I had only the Flash version. If you have the bucks or can find a deal buy the knife/flash combo.
